ELA
Learned how to form topic sentences.
Unscrambling words to make two, three, four and five letter words.
Math
Continued place value and learned how to properly place numbers in a place value chart.
Students worked with numbers in the thousands, ten thousands and hundred thousands.
Began representing numbers word form.
Art:
Students have been enjoying working on drawing Halloween art at the end of each day. They will be making a booklet of all their drawings to take home on Halloween!
Steam:
Students went outside on a community walk and used nature such as fallen leaves, berries, sticks, rocks to create wonderful figures such as hot air balloons, creative spirals etc.
Students did an amazing job using natural materials creatively and thinking outside the box to bring their ideas to life!
Buddies:
- Students worked with their Grade 1 buddies to create Thanksgiving art by transforming their turkeys into imaginative characters and objects. They used their creativity to think beyond a traditional turkey and turn it into something unique, such as a magician. Students did a wonderful job sharing ideas, collaborating with their buddies, and bringing their creative designs to life!
Looking Ahead:
Math:
Continue exploring place value and writing numbers out in word form going upto five digits.
Practice representing numbers in word form and expanded form.
ELA:
Begin writing topic sentences and information sentences about various topics such as sports, animals, hobbies.
Social Studies.
- Social Studies, students will connect their learning to Science by exploring what the land in Alberta, including the area where they live and attend school, may have looked like before buildings and communities were developed. They will compare what the land looked like before and after development and explore the different landforms found throughout Alberta.
